Back
in 2005, right
around the
Holidays, Sal
Amato finally
convinced
Armando Rivera
to put something
on this website
other than a
picture of Lee
Michaels.
Assistant PD
Armando of
Chicago's V103
(which used to
be WBMX back in
the day) has
owned the domain
for over 10
years.
What started out
as a way to
preserve the
heritage,
history and
memories of
Chicago radio
[which has been
completely
BURIED by radio
these days] and the Old
School scene of
the past 30
years has turned
into one of the
world's most
traveled
destinations for
Old School with
over 20 channels
and hundreds of hard to find Old School music videos
and more. So now, Sal and Kenny Jammin' Jason (an
original member of the Hot Mix Five) run the day to
day operations for the website as well as their
parent website 1club.fm. Together with their partner
Russ wbmx.com, 1club.fm and other websites make up
their internet broadcasting network known as
Dot1Media Inc. |

Sal Amato
Sal
started as a record fetcher for Count Bee-Jay and chased
Herb Kent around for the same job in Chicago when he was
about 10 years old and began dee-jaying at The Ambassador
Disco in 1978. A walking encyclopedia of useless
knowledge of about 40 formats. His friendship with Kenny
Jammin' Jason led to him doing mixes for WBMX from 1981 to
1983 as well as PD and on-air stripes at Chicago's WCYC and
residencies at some of Chicago's legendary clubs like
Mothers, PS Chicago, The Safari Club and more. With a heavy
resume rooted in both the label side of the
music industry as well as on-air in radio, Sal comes from a family of entertainers and
has been in feature films, TV Shows as well. Visit his website at http://salamato.com

Armando Rivera
Coming
to WBMX in the early 80s from El Paso Texas was a big move
for a late
teen- ager but once he got here he left his mark.
In fact, he's still at the top of his game as APD at Chicago's
V103, was MD at Chicago's Jammin' Oldies
Station "The Beat" and was very instrumental
in bringing new music to millions of people when he was at
WBMX through his "Chicago Street Hits" show which
came on before the mix shows as well as his hosting of the
mix shows through most of the years at WBMX. Click

Kenny Jammin' Jason
What can you say about a legend?
One of the few mix show DJs who's been on the radio nonstop
for almost 30 years. One of the few deejays who truly
understands how to mix and program a room. With numerous awards
and accolades from industry and record label personnel,
there's few who can match his credentials. From Disco DAI to
WGCI to WBMX and now syndicated in almost 100 cities across
the U.S.A.
